Preparing for your wedding day is an undertaking in itself. While you are checking everything off of your list leading up to your wedding day (and on the day itself), I’ve provided a list of my top 6 tips and tricks to make your wedding day smooth sailing so you and your loved ones can savor the day!
1. HAVE A TIMELINE AND ADHERE TO IT.
Set yourself up for success from the get-go by working with your wedding planner and your team of trusted vendors. The more involved everyone is with your timeline, the more you set yourself (and your team) up for success. It will help everyone stay on track so they can best execute your vision for the day. Make sure to include the contact information of your Maid of Honor, Best Man, and all your vendors, that way no matter what happens everyone is able to smoothly handle any unexpected hiccups.
2. HIRE A WEDDING PLANNER OR A DAY-OF COORDINATOR.
No matter how organized you are, or think you might be, you are going to want to hire a wedding planner; or at the very least a day-of coordinator. Both of these life saving roles will pay off in the coming months as you get into the fine details of putting the day together. The last thing you want to be worrying about on your wedding day are logistics, technicalities, and any last-minute issues.
3. SCHEDULE YOURSELF SOME DOWNTIME.
Your are going to need it. It may seem like there is no time for downtime the day of. But that’s exactly the reason you should pencil some in. If you don’t prioritize placing downtime in your timeline, you will have a very difficult time trying to find some otherwise before saying “I-do.” More so than anything, I want my clients to be able to soak up the day and enjoy every special moment-rather than just going through the motions. So take some time to yourself for a quick walk or a cup of coffee before walking down the aisle. And be sure to take a moment with your new spouse (!) after the ceremony. Trust me, you will be so glad you did!
4. PUT SOMEONE IN CHARGE OF BOUTONNIERES.
A little known tip. Have someone at the Groom’s getting ready location who knows how to properly place and attach boutonnieres. It typically ends up being the photographer which is perfectly ok as long as you have padded in the extra time. Otherwise we take away from time spent shooting other important moments unfolding.
5. SPEAK UP.
It is your day after all, and each vendor is there working for you to make sure all your needs and expectations are met! That goes for your photo-sessions, your moments and with your wedding party, timeline adjustments, etc. The day is for you and your are allowed to own it!
6. GO WITH THE FLOW.
Last on the list, take everything that happens in stride. It’s more important that you be in the moment grateful for everything and everyone around you than to stress over any possible hiccups that can or do occur. Things will not go 100% according plan but that is why you have a trustworthy coordinator as well as a whole team of trusted vendors!
If you follow these tips you’ll have a seamless wedding day filled with only the best moments and lots of love!
